A Nuclear Power Plant Operator controls nuclear reactors. The job duties include adjusting control rods, monitoring reactors, turbines, generators, and cooling systems, and adjusting controls. Job skills and qualifications include – strong problem-solving skills, experience in power generation, strong problem-solving skills, knowledge of adhering to safety protocols; and flexibility to work non-traditional hours. A bachelor’s degree in math, engineering, or power generation is often considered a minimum requirement. A license to work is also mandatory.
