A Court Assistant works to support the judge at the local, state, and federal levels by undertaking clerical and administrative support duties that are related directly to the court’s operations. The Court Assistants require at least a high school diploma or GED along with prior work experience in a similar position. Some courts prefer applicants with a degree in paralegal studies, business, secretarial studies, or a similar discipline. Prior work experience in a law firm is also desirable.
