A Perfusionist undertakes the crucial task of operating and monitoring the mechanical devices used in the surgical and medical procedures that require partial or complete cardiopulmonary bypass and other support systems. Typical work activities conducted on daily basis are mentioned on the Perfusionist Resume as – operating the heart-lung machine while the surgeon operates on the heart, managing the physiological and metabolic demands of the patient, and taking responsibility to deliver the drug that stops the heart.
