The basic function of a Project Accountant is to monitor the progress of the project, approve expenses, investigate variances and ensure that the billings are issued correctly. As a part of the job description, the Project Accountant executes the following tasks – creating project accounts, maintaining record of each and every aspect of project, authorizing access to project accounts, authorizing transfer of money from and into the project, reviewing and approving vendor invoice, approving overhead charges, conferring with receivables, reporting on project profitability, approving all project-related billings and invoices, and compiling information for internal and external auditor.
